The problem
The environment in which businesses operate today, presents management with many challenges. Customers demand high quality products at competitive prices; employees demand a safe and healthy workplace; while society demands that companies operate responsibly, without harming the environment.
Failure to meet with these demands can have a serious impact on a company’s profitability and long-term sustainability. Most companies know all too well the cost of incidents and quality non-conformances. These include production losses, covering the job function of an absent employee, medical costs, cleanup operations, costs of reworking unsuitable product, rising insurance costs or the result of legal actions or litigation.
Comprehensive management systems are required to manage safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) and drive continuous improvement in these areas. When evaluating any SHEQ management system you should ask the following questions:
- Are you aware of all incidents and near misses in your factories?
- Do you have a system to manage all non conformances in a standard way including product quality, security, safety, health, environmental and sustainability?
- When investigating incidents are you assured that all tasks will be followed through to completion?
- Does your existing quality management system completely support your ISO or equivalent certification?
- Is your SHEQ system integrated into other operations systems such as plant maintenance, plant operations, operational safety (permit to work) etc?
- Is your quality management system simple and easy to use by everyone in the business?
- Is SHEQ information in your organisation dispersed and locked away in inaccessible filing systems, spreadsheets and email?
- Do you have difficulty tracking and monitoring the status of incident reports and corrective actions?
- Are large amounts of time spent manually collecting and collating data to measure and manage performance?

What do our customers say about SmartSURE™?
- "We identified the need for a solution that could help us keep an accurate, consistent record of all issues, whether they be related to quality, occupational health/safety, environment, security or asset damage, and ensure that corrective actions are tracked and brought to completion. For audit purposes, it was important for us to have records of all these actions and their status. We selected SmartSURE which met these requirements.” - Craig Williams, General Manager Blendcor.
- "SmartSURE’s task manager enables us to systematically schedule repairs of our physical assets, plan day-to-day maintenance activities and plant operations, and keep a detailed register of all activities over time.” The system’s feature-rich task manager raises all preventative and corrective actions arising from an investigation as formal tasks, allocates each to specific personnel, and tracks and monitors them to ensure they are completed. Overdue tasks can then be escalated as required." - Anthopny Arokium - loss control manager - Heartland Leasing.
